Howden Re seeks an Agriculture Modeler to join its catastrophe analytics team. You will develop advanced agriculture risk models for the US crop insurance and reinsurance markets, leveraging your quantitative background in physics, math or data science.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of research and quantitative modeling experience.
• Strong programming background in Python and/or R.
• Knowledge of US crop insurance market preferred.
• Experience with weather and climate datasets is a plus.
• Legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsabilités

• Execute all aspects of agriculture modeling including data preparation, validation, portfolio analysis, reporting, visualization and mapping.
• Develop crop yield models for major US crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, sorghum, rice and specialty crops.
• Design stochastic yield simulation frameworks and apply machine learning, statistical and hybrid approaches for yield prediction and risk assessment.
• Develop in-season crop yield forecasting models using weather observations, climate forecasts, remote sensing data and soil measurements.
• Improve analytical processes to increase efficiency and client value.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address client and market needs.
