Job summary

Abbott is seeking a hands-on Director-level platform engineering leader to architect and operate the enterprise AI Platform. You will guide the control plane, runtimes, and observability while growing a team of engineers and collaborating with product managers and security.

The role emphasizes reliability, governance, and scalable development practices. You will design gateways and runtimes, uphold security and compliance, and drive platform strategy with a focus on velocity and safety for GenAI

Qualifications

• Must have strong software engineering foundation and leadership experience overseeing enterprise AI/GenAI platforms.
• Proven ability to design and operate complex, distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with APIs, secure SDLC, and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the reference architecture for the AI control plane and provider services.
• Build and lead a platform engineering team to deliver reliable GenAI runtimes and tooling.
• Own security controls, guardrails, and governance for platform usage and compliance.
• Write and review production code, conduct architecture reviews, and set engineering standards.
• Partner with product teams to align platform roadmap and measure adoption and reliability.
