The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) seeks an Associate General Counsel in the New York City office. The ideal candidate will handle a broad range of legal matters, perform in-depth research, and draft memoranda in a fast-paced environment.

The role reports to the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsels and focuses on internal policy work and diverse client matters. Applicants must have 2–5 years of relevant experience, NY admission, and reside in NY.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant experience, including as an associate attorney in a law firm or in-house for a complex or government organization.
• Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Highly collaborative and client-focused with experience serving diverse clients.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-impact environments.
• Knowledge of contract law; labor and employment law; and government ethics and compliance is a plus.
• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Researching complex legal issues and writing memoranda.
• Reviewing and drafting contracts and procurement documents.
• Crafting, reviewing, and revising OAG policies for compliance and best practices.
• Assisting with employment and labor law matters.
• Assisting with litigation and subpoena responses and other document requests.
• Collaborating with OGC attorneys on internal changes, affirmative litigation, and policy initiatives.
• Staying current on AI-related legal developments and advising accordingly.
• Interpreting statutes, rules, and regulations and advising on pending legislation.
• Handling additional duties as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputies.
