Job summary

NAVAIR in Maryland seeks a senior Aerospace Engineer to serve as Aircraft Performance Team Lead in the Flight Vehicle Performance Branch, Aeromechanics Division. You will lead technical performance activities, supervise a multidisciplinary team, and coordinate modeling, simulations, and flight-test support for multiple aircraft programs.

Qualifications

• Senior air vehicle performance engineer, technical specialist and engineering functional team lead for aircraft performance.
• Coordinate and conduct performance engineering activities for research, development, acquisition and sustainment of major aircraft programs.
• Develop and apply methods for air vehicle performance and aerodynamic model development, performance calculation and modeling/simulation.
• Develop and certify Flight Manual content and performance calculators or mission planning products.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical team for aircraft performance across multiple programs.
• Coordinate performance engineering activities from research through sustainment.
• Develop and apply aerodynamics models, wind tunnel and flight test support.
• Develop and certify flight manuals and performance tools for aircraft.
• Ensure safety of flight related to performance and aerodynamics prior to flight clearance.
• Advise leadership on technical status and recommend design changes.
