Job summary

MagLev Aero is seeking an exceptional Principal Aeroacoustics & Aerodynamics Engineer to advance rim-driven electric and hybrid ducted fan propulsion systems. This highly technical role demands solving multidisciplinary aerospace challenges rather than incremental improvements.

The candidate will lead aeroacoustic analyses, develop models, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to validate performance and accelerate design exploration with AI tools.

Qualifications

• PhD or advanced degree in aerospace/mechanical/acoustics; PhD strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise in aerodynamics and aeroacoustics, ideally with propulsion-related experience.
• Experience with CFD and computational modeling of complex aerodynamic systems.
• Experience predicting and reducing tonal and broadband aerodynamic noise.
• Ability to connect simulation with experimental data and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead aerodynamic and aeroacoustic analysis and optimization of rim‑driven systems.
• Model and predict performance of fan, rotor, duct, and propulsion‑system aerodynamics/acoustics.
• Develop designs that optimize thrust, efficiency, noise, weight, and system performance.
• Apply CFD, reduced‑order modeling, optimization, and AI tools to design exploration.
• Collaborate with propulsion, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers.
• Define test requirements and validate aerodynamic and acoustic performance.
• Correlate analytical and computational models with experimental data.
