Job summary

Heaviside Industries, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a senior aerodynamics engineer with extensive flight sciences experience to own the acoustic design of munition airframes and drive performance trades. The role involves CFD analysis, wind tunnel data, and integration with propulsion systems.

You will develop models for range, endurance, speed, and terminal maneuver capability while mentoring the design team and advancing simulation accuracy for defense programs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of aerodynamics or flight sciences experience on missiles, munitions, military UAS, or tactical aircraft with hardware that flew.
• Demonstrated ownership of an air vehicle’s aerodynamic design from concept through flight test.
• Expert proficiency in CFD and low-order aero-prediction tools with sound judgment on when to use each.

Responsibilities

• Own the aerodynamic design of munitions airframes across launch, cruise, and terminal flight.
• Lead aerodynamic analysis from conceptual sizing through design using CFD and wind tunnel data.
• Develop vehicle performance models for range, endurance, speed, and terminal maneuver capability.
• Generate stability and control derivatives and aerodynamic databases for GNC design.
• Lead propulsion-airframe integration for electric and small air-breathing propulsion.
• Plan and execute aerodynamic test campaigns: wind tunnels and instrumented flight tests.
• Mentor engineers and set the technical standard for analysis quality.
