Job summary

MagLev Aero is seeking an exceptional Aeroacoustics & Aerodynamics Engineer to lead analysis and optimization of rim-driven electric and hybrid ducted fan propulsion systems. You will model performance, reduce noise, and iterate designs using CFD, CAA, and AI-driven tools.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, validate simulations with tests, and push innovative concepts toward flight-ready solutions with independent ownership.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in aerospace/mechanical engineering; PhD strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise in aerodynamics and aeroacoustics for propulsion systems.
• Strong CFD and computational modeling background.
• Experience predicting and reducing tonal and broadband noise.
• Ability to connect simulation with experimental data.
• Strong programming and engineering-analysis skills.
• Interest in applying AI, ML, optimization, and generative methods to aerospace design.
• Ability to operate independently and take technical ownership from concept through validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead aerodynamic and aeroacoustic analysis and optimization.
• Model and predict performance of rim-driven fan systems.
• Develop designs optimizing thrust, efficiency, noise, and weight.
• Apply CFD, reduced-order modeling, optimization, and other methods.
• Collaborate with MAGGIE and AI tools to accelerate design exploration.
• Develop and improve physics-based and data-driven models.
• Correlate analytical models with experimental data and define test requirements.
• Work with propulsion, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers.
• Translate unconventional ideas into manufacturable designs and capabilities.
• Serve as aeroacoustics authority as propulsion technology advances.
