Job summary

HistoWiz is seeking a Research Associate to advance staining and biomarker assays in the Advanced Staining laboratory. You will independently perform IHC, IF, ISH, and multiplex assays, while supporting assay development, validation, and process optimization.

You will collaborate with pathologists and clients, design experiments, troubleshoot protocols, and contribute to quality assurance and documentation, ensuring timely results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or related life sciences.
• 2 years of lab experience performing immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, histology, or related tissue-based assays.
• Experience with FFPE tissue specimens.
• Strong antibody-based staining techniques and tissue preparation knowledge.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong scientific communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform IHC, IF, and ISH staining procedures according to SOPs.
• Prepare, stain, and process FFPE tissue sections with traceability.
• Execute routine and advanced staining workflows to meet turnaround times.
• Assist with routine IHC production as workload requires.
• Research literature to identify antibodies, biomarkers, and methods.
• Develop, optimize, and validate new IHC, IF, ISH, and multiplex IF assays.
• Design experiments to optimize staining conditions and detection systems.
• Analyze results and recommend protocol improvements.
• Validate biomarkers, assays, reagents, and equipment.
• Troubleshoot staining issues and review slides with pathologists.
• Prepare validation reports and maintain QA documentation.
• Lead client projects and coordinate timelines with teams and clients.
• Support AIR projects and coordinate lab activities and documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain lab organization and monitor inventories.
