Job summary

SEIU (Service Employees International Union) seeks a Lead Accounting Specialist (Dual Function) in Washington, DC to coordinate Treasury & Investments workflows and ensure GAAP compliance. The role emphasizes internal controls, accuracy, and adherence to policy in reviewing transactions and reporting.

You will oversee AR with 80% focus while supporting AP 20%, manage reconciliations, and contribute to LM2 reporting and audit processes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• US GAAP knowledge and DC law understanding.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a changing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication with SEIU leadership and staff.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Experience with NetSuite and expense systems.
• Experience with credit card integrations and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead Accounts Receivable function (80%) and support Accounts Payable (20%).
• Coordinate Director of Treasury and Investments in timely, accurate transaction processing and reporting.
• Analyze data and prepare LM2 reporting information (Schedules 1, 2, 9).
• Reconcile GL accounts for Treasury & Investments monthly.
• Oversee delinquency and collections reporting.
• Maintain customer master records for consistency and accuracy.
• Handle Local Union audit confirmations and Contract reviews.
• AR write-offs maintenance and reporting; revenue analysis and reporting.
• Review reimbursements and Ramp transactions for compliance.
• Support Deputy Director with other duties and project work.
• Ensure expenses align with spending guidelines and approval workflows.
• Investigate discrepancies, missing approvals, and missing receipts.
