IDEA Insurance Agency in Orlando, FL is seeking an Accounting & Reconciliations Supervisor to oversee daily bookkeeping, maintain accurate financial records, and supervise the Commissions & Reconciliations function.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in accounting with hands-on reconciliation, strong Excel and QuickBooks skills, and prior team leadership. This role combines practical accounting with supervisory duties to ensure timely close and precise reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, accounting, financial operations, or reconciliations.
• At least 1 year of team leadership, workflow coordination, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and basic financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial data analysis.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software strongly preferred.
• Experience in insurance commissions, carrier reconciliations, or insurance agency accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including transaction recording, account classification, and financial record maintenance.
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and supporting accounting documentation.
• Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial adjustments as assigned.
• Prepare journal entries, corrections, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Monitor daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
• Supervise the daily activities of the Commissions & Reconciliations Specialist.
• Review commission reconciliations, payment records, adjustments, and outstanding discrepancies.
• Monitor commission-related receivables, chargebacks, and financial adjustments.
• Provide direct day-to-day supervision and guidance to accounting and reconciliation personnel.
• Assign daily tasks, establish priorities, and monitor completion of assigned responsibilities.
• Assist in maintaining appropriate accounting controls and reconciliation procedures.
• Prepare routine financial summaries and reconciliation status reports for management.
• Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
