Qualifications

• Must hold a current Indiana License/Certification in primary grades.
• ESL/EL/ENL certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Understanding of bilingual services philosophy for English Learners.
• Knowledge of SIOP instructional strategies for EL students.
• Knowledge of second language acquisition theory and practice.
• Familiarity with WIDA ACCESS ELD standards and content areas.
• Willingness to attend ongoing training and development.
• No recent Probation Assistance issues on evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Use balanced literacy concepts such as shared reading and guided reading.
• Provide differentiated instruction for EL students and struggling readers.
• Use formative assessments to guide reading instruction.
• Interact with families from diverse backgrounds and communities.
• Develop and maintain parent contact and involvement as partners.
• Analyze data to differentiate instruction and create ILPs for EL students.
• Administer all state standardized assessments.
• Collaborate with Title I/II/III staff and administration.
• Instruct in dual-language immersion using sheltered, cooperative, and discovery methods.
• Maintain classroom standards and safe learning environment.
• Lead integration of EL strategies school-wide when possible.
