Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a knowledgeable leader to supervise the Leachate Treatment Plant and related stormwater systems. You will direct daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage maintenance programs to support safe, efficient processing of leachate.

The role requires an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in a related field and 7+ years in water or wastewater operations, including 3+ years of supervisory experience. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years of work experience in water or wastewater treatment operations, including at least 3 years supervising staff.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise personnel and maintain proper operation of the leachate treatment plant and related systems.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and administrative work for leachate and stormwater management.
• Resolve treatment facility issues, both routine and emergency; implement preventive maintenance schedules.
• Ensure staff have proper equipment and supplies; maintain regulatory compliance.
• Review plans for water treatment facilities and ensure discharge meets local/state/federal standards.
• Schedule internal/external contractors and perform performance evaluations.
