Job summary

JCFS Chicago is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support K-12+ students with diverse needs. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, work with families and districts, and implement IEP-driven programs in a therapeutic setting.

Ideal candidates hold ISBE certification (LBS1/Type 10) and a Bachelor's in Special Education, with experience in ASD and therapeutic day school environments preferred. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university.
• Current ISBE certification as a Special Education Teacher with LBS1/Type 10.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of electronic IEP systems.
• Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred.
• Ability to complete physical and testing requirements, including TCI/Ukeru training.
• Experience in therapeutic day school setting preferred.
• Experience collaborating with families, educators and school districts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized curriculum and therapeutic programming per IEP.
• Provide classroom management that recognizes the student population's needs.
• Collaborate with team to develop and implement an IEP-driven multidisciplinary program.
• Prepare and maintain a safe, healthy, academically supportive classroom environment.
• Complete weekly lesson plans, grade reports, IEP progress reports, surveys, and assessments.
• Support students in developing academic, social-emotional, behavioral, transitional, and vocational skills.
• Collaborate with families, guardians, school districts, and interdisciplinary team members to support progress.
