Job summary

Ohio Steel Industries is seeking a highly motivated New Product Development (NPD) Engineer to drive the company’s evolving product innovation strategy for lawn and garden solutions. You will lead cross-functional teams, translate roadmaps into engineering plans, and push for tangible product differentiation.

The role blends hands-on design with product architecture and leadership to accelerate innovation across platforms, delivering commercially successful outcomes in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of product development or mechanical design experience.
• Experience leading new product development from concept to launch.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal, stamping, and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering development of new lawn and garden products from concept generation through production launch.
• Translate strategic product roadmap initiatives into executable engineering plans.
• Develop product concepts that deliver competitive differentiation and customer value.
• Support NPD efforts to grow sales, profitability, and ROI on resources.
