Job summary

Stauffers of Kissel Hill is hiring for a full-time position at our Lititz Pike Home & Garden Store. Flexible day, evening and weekend availability is required as the role supports store operations and leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Previous managerial experience required.
• Product knowledge preferred for pesticides, grass seeds and lawn care products.

Responsibilities

• Assists with opening/closing store and cash management responsibilities (as assigned).
• Communicates with Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation and appropriate pricing.
• Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations based on the needs of the business and upcoming events.
• Handles damages/returns and ensures proper credits from vendors.
• Manages vendor invoices, company invoices and inter-company transfers daily.
• Maintains inventories and ordering systems to oversee ordering from approved vendors.
• Knowledge of Home & Garden pricing and promotion procedures.
• Maintains cash registers and backroom computers; notifies about repairs.
• Monitors cashiers and customer service to control loss.
• Reviews sales fliers for advertised specials.
• Develops and mentors the Assistant Department Manager to take a leadership role.
• Follows cleaning procedures.
• Functions as a working manager performing any department duty as needed.
• Supervises departmental inventories for accuracy.
• Trains staff in store policies and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assists with opening/closing store and cash management responsibilities (as assigned).
• Communicates with Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation andappropriate pricing. Promptly follows through with Buyer directions.
• Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations (ifapplicable) based on the needs of the business and according to upcoming special store events.
• Handles damages/returns and ensures that proper credits have been received from vendors.
• Handles vendor invoices, company invoices and inter-company transfers on a daily basis toensure timely billing.
• Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to effectively oversee theordering of departmental supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
• Is knowledgeable regarding Home & Garden pricing and promotion procedures.
• Maintains working operation of the cash registers and backroom computers, notifies proper individuals of any problems or repairs needed with equipment.
• Monitors overages and shortage of cashiers and customer service, to control loss.
• Reviews sales fliers to be aware of advertised specials.
• Develops and mentors the Assistant Department Manager to prepare them to take on a leadership role within the department. (if applicable)
• Follows established cleaning procedures.
• Functions as a working manager willing to perform any department responsibility as needed.
• Supervises and performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
• Trains team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and job duties to ensure they are working in a productive and safe manner.
• Works to resolve incorrect information and ensure correct pricing.

Qualifications
