Job summary

Stauffers of Kissel Hill is hiring for a full-time Team Member at our East York Home & Garden Store. This role requires flexible day, evening, and weekend availability with responsibilities including opening/closing, cash handling, and helping interview/train new staff.

You will coordinate with Home & Garden Managers regarding merchandising, pricing, and ordering, while promoting teamwork and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pest & disease problems; annuals, perennials, herbs, cacti and tropical/indoor foliage; water gardening.
• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 30 pounds, frequently up to 60 pounds.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with opening/closing store and cash management responsibilities (as assigned).
• Interviews, selects and trains new employees in cooperation with Human Resources.
• Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations based on business needs and store events.
• Coordinates with Home & Garden Managers and Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation and pricing.
• Functions as a working manager willing to perform any department responsibility as needed.
• Handles damages/returns and ensures claims are processed and forwarded to Corporate Office.
• Keeps knowledge of inventories and ordering systems to oversee ordering of supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
• Familiar with register procedures and closing store procedures for location.
• Supervises and performs departmental inventories for accuracy and thoroughness.
• Trains team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and job duties.
