Job summary

Stauffers of Kissel Hill is seeking a Team Member for our East York Home & Garden Store. This full-time position offers flexible day, evening, and weekend availability with a wage of $19.50 per hour.

You will assist with store operations, cash handling, merchandising, and customer service while supporting managers and colleagues. On-the-job training is provided within our family-owned company, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pest and disease problems with common garden plants.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, up to 60 pounds occasionally.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and humid conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with opening/closing store and cash handling as assigned.
• Participates in interviewing, selecting and training new employees with HR.
• Assigns duties, schedules and vacations based on store needs and events.
• Coordinates with Managers and Buyers on merchandising and pricing.
• Acts as a working manager, performing department duties as needed.
• Handles damages/returns and communicates with Corporate Office.
• Maintains knowledge of inventories and ordering systems for supplies.
• Familiar with register procedures and closing store procedures as needed.
• Supervises inventories and trains staff on store policies and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assists with opening/closing store and cash management responsibilities (as assigned).
• Assists in interviewing, selecting and training new employees in cooperation with Human Resources.
• Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations (ifapplicable) based on the needs of the business and according to upcoming special store events.
• Coordinates with the Home & Garden Managers & Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation,and appropriate pricing. Promptly follows through with Buyer's directions.
• Functions as a working manager willing to perform any department responsibility as needed.
• Handles damages/returns and ensures that claims have been processed and forwarded toCorporate Office.
• Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to effectively oversee theorderingof departmental supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
• Is familiar with register procedures and closing of store procedures to perform if needed atyour location.
• Supervises and performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
• Trains team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and jobduties to ensure they are working in a productive and safe manner.

Qualifications

• Has knowledge regarding pest & disease problems; annuals, perennials, herbs, cacti andtropical/indoor foliage; water gardening and a strong desire to learn.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
• While performing the duties of this Job, employees are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
