Job summary

The Illinois State Police is seeking a detail‑oriented State Police Field Specialist II to provide specialized training, guidance, and technical support to federal, state, and local agencies using ISP-supported criminal justice information systems including LEADS, NCIC, NLETS, CHF, CHRI, IUCR and related programs.

The role involves scheduling LEADS audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, maintaining accurate documentation, and delivering training to ensure continued

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year college degree with major coursework in communications, computer science, criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement administration, psychology, public administration, sociology, speech or statistics.
• Requires three years of professional experience in the criminal justice field (e.g., law enforcement, parole/probation, crime statistics).
• Telecommunicator call taker experience accepted for credit toward degree requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides training and user support to federal, state, and local agencies relating to ISP-supported systems.
• Schedules and conducts LEADS audits to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Develops and maintains liaison with user agencies.
• Facilitates and attends training sessions to ensure continued education on ISP and FBI CHIS supported systems.
• Gives guidance and recommendations to management on strategic and operational plans.
• Performs other duties as required within the scope above.
