Position Overview

We envision a world where every person in need of assistance receives the most appropriate and least restrictive response, regardless of time or place.

Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a 501(c)(3), comprehensive behavioral health and crisis services provider that has helped individuals overcome mental health and substance use disorders since 1992.

The primary goal of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) Case Manager is to support LEAD: a pre-booking diversion program redirecting low-level offenders to community-based services and intensive case management as an alternative to police involvement, reducing recidivism rates and improving quality of life.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position located in Baltimore, Maryland, reporting directly to the LEAD Program Manager. Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing services in the least restrictive environment, meeting participants where they are, including in their homes or other community settings.
  2. Maintaining a caseload of LEAD participants and delivering intensive case management services as needed.
  3. Collaborating closely with police partners who serve as primary referral sources.
  4. Linking participants to care and community resources to support recovery and prevent criminal justice system involvement.
  5. Working with the LEAD Peer Recovery Specialist to help participants navigate health and behavioral health care barriers.
  6. Maintaining a schedule from 10 am to 6 pm with flexibility based on participant needs.
  7. Building and maintaining relationships with community partners and support agencies.
  8. Providing transportation to appointments when necessary.
  9. Completing accurate and timely documentation and outcome tracking forms.
  10. Participating in weekly operational meetings and training sessions.
  11. Performing additional duties as assigned by the LEAD Program Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related human service field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental illness, addiction, or co-occurring disorders is preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid MD driver’s license; ability to transport clients using a company vehicle.
  • Proactive in seeking guidance and support for safety and quality care.
  • Skill in distress tolerance to maintain safety and calmness.
  • Modeling positive regard and establishing interpersonal boundaries.
  • Maintaining personal and situational awareness through self-reflection.
  • Practicing ethical, evidence-based, and person-first decision-making.

Travel may constitute up to 25% of the role.
