Job summary

The Washington County Court of Common Pleas is seeking a Law Clerk to support the judge with research, drafting opinions, and court filings. The role involves attending civil, criminal, and family court proceedings, including hearings and trials, and preparing correspondence and orders as needed.

You will help organize calendars, manage case lists, and coordinate conferences with the judge. Minimum qualifications include a law degree from an accredited institution; admission to the Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

• Research legal topics and draft opinions and orders, and prepare correspondence.

• Communicate with the public and attorneys by phone or in person.
• Draft sentencing forms and observe judge conferences and voir dire as assigned.

Job description

The Washington County Court of Common Pleas is accepting applications for a Law Clerk.

Job Duties Research legal topics and drafts opinions and orders, as well as correspondence. Attend Court proceedings, including hearings, trials, routine motions, and pleas, as requested by the Judge. Completes sentencing forms as required by the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. Organize, schedule, and maintain the case list, briefing and argument schedules. Communicate with the public and attorneys, by telephone or in person. Attend conferences with the Judge, attorney and litigants. Attend educational sessions for civil, criminal, family court, orphans court updates.

Minimum Requirements A law degree from an accredited institution is required. Admission to the Pennsylvania bar is preferred.
