Job description

The Honorable William P. Carlucci, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County, is seeking a Judicial Law Clerk in the 29th Judicial District of Pennsylvania.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will assist Judge Carlucci with legal research, analysis of factual and legal issues, and the preparation of legal memoranda, draft opinions, and orders. This work will support the Judge’s role in managing civil, criminal, family, and orphans’ court matters.

Responsibilities include preparing files for court proceedings, reviewing and analyzing briefs submitted by counsel, checking citations for accuracy, and staying up‑to‑date with new developments in the law. These duties help ensure the efficient and accurate resolution of court matters. The position also entails preparing jury charges in both civil and criminal trials, tracking case activity, and understanding legal arguments as they are presented by parties. Strong analytical and writing skills are essential for this role. Assisting the Office of the District Court Administrator with legal questions, answering phone calls related to court operations, and performing other assignments as directed by Judge Carlucci. The clerk’s work directly supports the orderly disposition of matters before the Court. The role offers daily exposure to courtroom functions, judicial decision‑making processes, and a wide range of legal subject areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in law. Commitment of at least two years to the position; however, the term of the position can be extended or become permanent if desired by the Judge and Law Clerk.

Salary Information

Minimum starting salary of $57,310.50. Plus an additional 1% increase for each year (12 consecutive months) of related experience (maximum of 12%) plus an additional 1% increase for a license to practice law.
