The Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania seeks a law clerk to aid Judges by researching legal issues, drafting memoranda and initial opinions, and briefing citations for court review.
You will perform legal research, analyze issues, assist with jury selection coordination, stay current on developments in the law, and meet deadlines with strict confidentiality. Two-year commitment preferred.
This law clerk will aid and expedite research on legal issues presented to the Judges, prepare memoranda of law, prepare initial drafts of opinions, check and brief citations of authority submitted by counsel, and perform such other duties as are assigned by the Judges to aid in the orderly disposition of court-related matters.
Starting salary of $53,045.
A clerkship with a Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas judge offers a caliber of legal education that no classroom can replicate. From your first weeks as a law clerk, you will be immersed in a behind‑the‑scenes look at court operations, often with exposure to the broad spectrum of cases on the court’s docket - civil and criminal, family, trust and estates, motions and trials, as well as appeals. You will draft opinions, conduct legal research on novel questions, observe witness examinations and jury voir dire, and work in close collaboration with a sitting judge (if there are open positions, you will find them on the left).
