The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a Laundry Worker career opportunity at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls, MT.

TheMontana Veterans’ Home (MVH)located in Columbia Falls, Montana, is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans’ Administration certified facility with 105 intermediate/skilled-care beds and 12 domiciliary beds. The nursing facility includes a 15-bedDementia Careunit. MVH has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. The Montana Veterans’ Home is located next to the Flathead River just minutes away from Glacier National Park. A large pavilion, walking paths and protected courtyards provide ample opportunities for outdoor access. The facility offers individual and group activities, spiritual services, support group services, and social services. The skilled and rehabilitative services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and dietitian services.

Job Overview:

The Montana Veterans’ Home is a certified facility that has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. Admission is for honorably discharged veterans eligible for skilled/intermediate nursing care or domiciliary self-care living. The Laundry worker processes commercial and in-house laundry, providing residents with clean linen, bedding, and clothing, promoting a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.

Position: Laundry Worker
Schedule: Part-time, 32 hours per week.

This position is open until filled with frequent screening of applicants.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
  • One (1) year of similar service-related work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Other combinations of experience, education, and training may be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic laundry processing procedures
  • Knowledge of basic safety principles for handling soiled linen
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents and staff
  • Ability to provide leadership and training
Physical and Environmental Demands:

The work involves lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, squatting, and extensive standing. Critical physical demands:

  • Lift 35# rarely;
  • Lift 30# occasionally;
  • Push/Pull 30# occasionally;
  • Reach forward and below frequently.

Must use protective gown, gloves, and facial protection as necessary when handling soiled linen.
