Responsible for controlling and issuing linen and terry products used by room and food and beverage divisions. Ensures all laundry is removed from chutes, sorted, and prepared for transport to the wash area. Removes soiled items from laundry carts, inspects linen and terry for damage or stains, sorts, separates, and bags soiled linen and terry for processing. Operates washers, dryers, and other equipment, maintains records, takes inventory, etc.

Job Description

1. Assist housekeepers or porters in unloading carts containing soiled linen and terry products.
2. Keep common areas neat and free of debris at all times.
3. Remove soiled items from laundry carts and handle accordingly.
4. Remove damaged or stained items for special processing.
5. Program finishing equipment for various types of linen and terry products.
6. Feed washed linen onto ironers or folders, or fold dry linen by hand.
7. Sort, stack, and count finished linen and terry products.
8. Coordinate monthly inventory, determine loss quantities, and compile statistics.
9. Report equipment problems to supervisor.
10. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
11. Promote teamwork skills at all times.
12. Complete checklists and inventory sheets for supervisor approval.
13. Organize linen and supply closets.
14. Use only approved cleaning supplies.
15. Follow special care instructions for linens, floors, surfaces, etc.
16. Wear a neat and professional uniform at all times.
17. Lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform various physical movements throughout the day.
18. Perform duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
19. Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as needed.
20. Contribute to a positive hotel culture and success.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One to two years of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Basic math skills for inventory and reporting.
• Flexible schedule.
