Job summary

Tennessee State Veterans' Home in Cleveland, Tennessee, is hiring a full-time Laundry Aide to support our skilled nursing facility serving veterans. The pay scale ranges from $13.09 to $18.39 per hour, with benefits and a commitment to high-quality resident care.

Typical duties include operating laundry equipment, sorting items, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with delivery of clean laundry to residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping/ cleaning in healthcare preferred.
• Ability to read and understand Standard English.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separate laundry items by color, fabric type, and care instructions.
• Operate and maintain laundry equipment such as washers and dryers.
• Load and unload machines with proper weights and settings.
• Use appropriate cleaning agents and products to remove stains/odors.
• Inspect and treat items for stains and damages before laundering.
• Fold and store cleaned laundry in assigned areas.
• Maintain inventory of laundry supplies and notify supervisor when low.
• Assist with delivering clean laundry to residents or departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Sort and separate laundry items according to color, fabric type, and care instructions
• Operate and maintain laundry equipment, such as washing machines and dryers
• Load and unload laundry machines, ensuring proper weights and settings are used
• Use appropriate cleaning agents and laundry products to remove stains and odors
• Check and treat items for stains and damages before laundering
• Inspect and fold cleaned laundry items, ensuring they are properly sorted and stored
• Maintain inventory of laundry supplies and inform the supervisor when additional supplies are needed
• Assist with the delivery of clean laundry to the appropriate areas or individuals
• Follow safety procedures and maintain cleanliness in the laundry area
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and excellent service

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Previous housekeeping/ cleaning/ laundry aide experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Individual must be able to work independently and reschedule cleaning activities to meet the needs of residents or nursing staff. Individual must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Must be able to read and understand Standard English and be able to work with standard cleaning chemicals.
