Job summary

Blue Origin, based in California, is seeking a civil engineer to own the planning and conceptual design for launch-site operational infrastructure, including roads, utilities, drainage, and support facilities. You will walk the site, surface constraints, and drive early coordination with A/E partners to shape the technical scope and feasibility analyses.

The role emphasizes field work over construction management, requires travel to active sites, and a proven ability to communicate persuasively

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of professional civil engineering design, planning, or site development.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Willingness to travel to candidate and active sites.
• Strong written and verbal communication for site decisions.
• Comfortable with rapidly changing roles in a high-paced environment.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holder).
• Ability to obtain and maintain government badges (Vandenberg SFB).
• Ability to perform hands-on field work in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil planning and site design for launch-site infrastructure.
• Support site evaluation and due diligence with constraints analysis.
• Drive early coordination with A/E partners and resolve cross-discipline conflicts.
• Support NEPA/regulatory planning and environmental assessments.
• Produce sketch-level civil design to support feasibility studies.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and geotech teams.
• Help develop statements of work and technical scope for civil work.
• Use BIM workflows to keep designs coordinated across disciplines.
• Identify and drive project risks to closure.
• Be in the field for site walks and agency meetings.
