Job summary

General Motors is seeking an on-site Quality Engineering Launch Lead at our Detroit/Hamtramck plant to drive Advanced Product Quality Planning and ensure robust quality controls for new vehicle launches. You will lead PFMEA activities, collaborate with Product Engineering, manage quality issues in JIRA/PRTS, and oversee Supplier Quality, root-cause analysis, and variation reduction.

Travel to supplier engagements is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Experience in APQP and PFMEA.
• Experience applying Product Engineering to QA.
• Proficient in PRTS for issue management.
• Strong Supplier Quality Management experience.
• Strong root cause analysis and corrective action skills.
• Experience with Variation Reduction techniques.
• Understanding of Vehicle Manufacturing Process and QC requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel to support launch activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead APQP activities and quality control plans for new product launches.
• Contribute to PFMEA to mitigate risks in manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering to translate design to quality targets.
• Use JIRA/PRTS to manage and resolve quality issues across launches.
• Oversee Supplier Quality Management including supplier assessments and development.
• Apply technical problem-solving to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Implement Variation Reduction to minimize process and product variability.
• Identify critical control points in Vehicle Manufacturing Process to prevent issues.
• Mentor cross-functional teams on quality best practices and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present quality reports and launch readiness assessments to senior management.
