Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a hands-on leader to join the Operations team. You will supervise technicians and operators in mission, test, and launch operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule.

You will plan daily work, assign tasks, ensure procedures are followed, provide technical support, coach staff, support onboarding, and communicate risks to leadership. Willing to work nonstandard hours and travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years hands-on in mission/flight operations or related environments.
• 1+ year frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience with complex or hazardous systems.
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation.
• Proven ability to plan and prioritize daily work for a team.
• Proficient with digital tools and quick to learn new ones.
• Willing to support nonstandard hours and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians/operators in day-to-day mission, test, and launch operations with emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work coverage, overtime, and backup resources.
• Ensure work adheres to procedures, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations.
• Conduct performance check-ins, coach, and mentor team members.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and recognition for your team.
• Communicate status, issues, and risks to leadership and partner teams clearly.
• Drive a strong safety culture; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
