Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Production Operations Manager to oversee planning, scheduling, and manufacturing of rocket components. You will lead a team of technicians, set priorities, budgets, and schedules, and implement quality controls to improve performance.

The role requires hands-on experience in production environments, strong safety leadership, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or maintenance experience with components like pumps, turbines, tubing, instrumentation, valves.
• 1+ year of frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience working on complex or hazardous systems (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic, high-pressure, high-voltage, propellants).
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics).
• Willing to support nonstandard hours and travel to other sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians with focus on safety, quality, and schedule.
• Plan, assign, monitor work and manage shift coverage.
• Ensure work complies with procedures, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of flight and ground systems.
• Conduct performance check-ins, coach and mentor team members.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and recognition.
• Communicate status, issues, and risks clearly to leadership and partner teams.
• Drive safety culture and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements for safety, quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Maintain clean, compliant work areas (5S, tool/FOD control).
