The City of West Sacramento is seeking a Lateral Police Officer to perform law enforcement duties, enforce laws, and engage with the community. Additionally, lateral officers will receive 80 hours of paid time off at hire. The monthly compensation, including benefits, can be up to $2,477 for family medical coverage.
Employees possessing bilingual skills on duty shall receive an additional 5% of their hourly rate of pay.

Job Definition: Under the direction of a Police Sergeant, performs law enforcement and crime prevention work, enforces traffic laws, conducts investigations, and supports department programs. Supervisory roles may include overseeing non-sworn personnel and volunteers.
Essential Functions: Patrols the city, responds to emergencies, enforces laws, conducts investigations, makes arrests, gathers evidence, testifies in court, maintains public relations, participates in crime prevention, and coordinates investigations.
Marginal Functions: Administers First Aid, directs traffic at emergencies, performs limited lab analysis, and other duties as required.
Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 21+ years old; one year of law enforcement experience for lateral entry.
Licenses & Certificates: Valid California driver's license; POST Basic Certificate for lateral entry; completion of POST Basic Academy for entry level.
Working Conditions: Work involves emergency environments, exposure to hazards, physical activity, and adverse weather conditions.
