Title: Later Elementary (3-5) Dean of Students

Job Location: Paw Paw Later Elementary Campus

Reports to: Later Elementary Principal

Job Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Qualifications
  • Possess a valid Michigan teacher’s certificate in elementary education (K-5 All Subjects)
  • Have at least three (3) years of previous successful teaching experience
  • Possess a valid Michigan school administrator certificate or degree in educational leadership (Preferred)
  • Highly organized with strong classroom management skills (Preferred)
  • Successful teaching experience (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated consultation skills (Preferred)
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and evidence-based instructional strategies (Preferred)
  • Prior experience working with students who have diverse learning needs (Preferred)
Responsibilities
  • Communicate information and strategies to students and teachers that effectively move both groups toward effective behavior management
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school; assumes the duties of the Principal in the absence of the Principal and as assigned.
  • Maintain a standard of student behavior designed to emphasize effort, personal responsibility, and respect; minimize school and classroom disruptions
  • Assist in the enforcement of the school’s attendance policy; share oversight of attendance monitoring with Principal; call and meet with parents/guardians to develop strategies for increased student attendance
  • Assist with discipline of students
  • Assist Principal in leadership of school safety routines, drills, practices, and monitoring effectiveness
  • Assist in coordinating state proficiency testing General Leadership/Administration
  • Assist the principal and special education director with administrative oversight of the special education department, including attending IEPT meetings as the administrative representative and participating in the development and implementation of Behavior Improvement Plans,
  • Participate in the child study team process.
  • Provide for general supervision of students before school, after school, throughout the day, and during special events.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and shares student behavior and discipline data regularly, and uses that data to make informed decisions.
  • Initiates truancy processes for students when necessary. Completes follow-up reporting as needed.
  • Make recommendations to the Principal and Superintendent on any matter which will improve the excellence of the District
  • Perform any other job responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Principal and/or Superintendent
Salary and Benefits

Salary/Benefits: $60,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience and a 5% district paid annuity, including full administrative benefit package.

Days/Hours: 195 workdays annually
