Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Education, or in a related field, from an accredited college / university
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certification (ZE, ZC, ZG) or meet Michigan teaching permit requirements through enrollment in a teacher certification program leading to a Michigan elementary teaching certificate
- Knowledge of Michigan State Standards for Fifth Grade
- Experience in an elementary school setting (preferred)
Job Description
- Provide direct instruction to Fifth grade students, fostering creativity and innovation
- Maintain a structured environment that supports classroom management where students feel safe and engaged, promoting focus and collaboration
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in order to advance student achievement
- Work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction, develop lesson plans and instructional materials, provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students
- Acknowledge and embrace diversity to create an inclusive environment that respects and appreciates different backgrounds and perspectives
- Establish open communications with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Participate in district and school professional development programs, as required
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
- Any other duties assigned by the Principal, and/or designee
