Job summary

Bowdoin College is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker to support the SuperSnack late-night dining service at Thorne Dining Hall in Brunswick, Maine. The role is on-site and involves food prep, service, and sanitation tasks, with an emphasis on safety and customer service.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and ServSafe certification (or online food safety course) upon hire. No prior experience required, though 1 year in food prep is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current ServSafe certification or completion of the online food safety course upon hire.
• Entry level position, no prior work experience required.
• At least one year of experience in food production and/or ingredient preparation techniques and intermediate knife skills highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ingredient preparation for hot and cold food production, mindful of cross contamination.
• Assist with servery set-up, service, and replenishment.
• Follow food handling and storage procedures; adhere to portion control and serving procedures.
• Assist in dishwashing tasks including scraping, loading/unloading, and stacking dishware.
• Assist in sanitation duties including cleaning prep areas, equipment, and storage areas.
• Assist in daily operations and monitoring the dining hall’s checking systems.
• Stock gluten-free area and manage stocking inventory per FICO standards.
• Greet and assist dining patrons; verify IDs and meal eligibility.
• Provide coverage for front and back of house as needed.
