Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc. in San Diego, CA, seeks a Laser Engineering Technician to support engineering with moderately complex duties and hands-on tasks, participating in development, characterization, and improvement of laser systems.

You will identify optical components, assist in defining requirements, assemble, test, and document processes, and may mentor other technicians while contributing to a safety-conscious, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a technical discipline or related field.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Competent technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering with moderately complex engineering duties and / or hands-on tasks.
• Work independently for several days.
• Provide competent technical expertise.
• Assist in design, build and procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures, and material handling equipment.
• Complete process documentation, bill of materials, route sheets, etc.
• Review project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications and objectives.
• Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified components or assemblies.
• Set up and conduct tests of units and components.
• Analyze test results and adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Record test procedures, data, and recommendations for changes.
• Provide and develop documentation to maintain equipment.
• May lead technician teams or mentor other technicians.
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
