Job summary

Technique is seeking a Laser Technician to join our Jackson, Michigan facility. You will set up, program, and operate 2D flat-sheet and 5-axis laser cutting systems to process sheet metal blanks, stampings, and tubing in stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.

You will perform first-piece inspections and adjust programs to meet tight tolerances while keeping equipment running at peak performance for high-speed prototype and low-volume production work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of laser cutting experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T notation.
• Experience with fiber or CO₂ laser systems; 5-axis trimming is preferred.
• Experience with CNC programming and nesting software.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 2D and 5-axis laser cutting systems.
• Program and edit laser jobs using CNC/CAM software.
• Trim formed parts and tubing using appropriate fixtures.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections with calipers and CMM reports.
• Troubleshoot cut-quality issues and adjust machine parameters accordingly.
• Maintain laser equipment and documentation for production runs.
• Follow laser safety practices and PPE requirements.
