Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. in Sunnyvale is seeking a Laser Process Engineer to advance laser process technology from product design to manufacturing, within the LPX group.

You will collaborate with mechanical design, software controls, machine vision and laser physics teams to improve process output, qualify tooling, and provide production support in a 100% onsite environment. Minimum BS/MS in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience (3 years with a master’s) and medical device exposure

Qualifications

• Passion for solving tough technical problems.
• Proficiency using CAD to design parts and create spec drawings (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience with validation/verification/qualification of process, equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
• Knowledge of component manufacturing processes and laser processes (welding/marking/cutting/ablating).
• Hands-on engineering in a collaborative team.
• Ability to read electronic schematics and layouts.
• Strong communication across levels and functions.
• Familiarity with design for assembly/manufacturing and automation.
• Excellent documentation and troubleshooting mindset.
• Comfortable operating measurement and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to create platforms and workholding for laser processing.
• Help improve laser process output in laser lab and production environments.
• Drive root cause analyses of system and equipment failures with data analysis.
• Design, qualify, document, and validate laser processes and tooling.
• Provide production line support for day-to-day engineering issues with laser equipment.
• Work with NPD to drive DFM/DFA for laser processes.
