Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health seeks a Part-time Cook in Salem, MO. You will prepare food per established menus and USDA guidelines under supervision, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a large-scale food service operation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in food service, and a valid driver’s license. First Aid training is required. The position offers benefits and growth opportunities within Brightli’s Brightli system.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of food preparation on a large scale and safe handling of food.
• Strong communication skills to interact with staff and clients.
• Basic math skills and the ability to follow safety and security regulations.
• First Aid training completed is required.

Responsibilities

• Purchase food and supplies within budget, ensuring adequate inventory.
• Maintain compliance with Health Department and KDHE.
• Schedule staff for coverage and communicate with team.
• Prepare the daily menu, thaw and prepare frozen meat for cooking.
• Cook food with minimal waste while ensuring appearance and safety standards.
• Monitor temperatures and sanitation of equipment and areas.
• Restock and clean the cafeteria to provide a pleasant dining environment.
• Report faulty equipment to supervisor promptly.
