Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Print / Mail Machine Operator to operate and maintain large format printers, laminating and trimming equipment, and related bindery devices. The role includes setting up machines, producing manuals, brochures, banners and signage in a fast-paced setting.

The position requires experience with high-speed printers, bindery workflow, and the ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds). A California driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of recent experience operating an offset or high-speed digital production printer.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting of at least 50 pounds.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with large format printers and bindery equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and adjust bindery and finishing equipment to produce manuals and brochures.
• Operate high-speed digital copiers and manage print files from desktop to drivers.
• Use RIP software such as Fiery or Creo and perform booklet making.
• Operate spiral binding, collate and bind books.
• Perform routine calibrations and maintenance on printing equipment.
• Prepare production reports using the work order system.
• Sort, pack, and deliver printed materials; assist with pickups.
