Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Engine in Beloit, Wisconsin, is seeking an Engine Assembler to build large, heavy‑duty engines per drawings and specifications. You will perform precision operations, assemble crankshafts, blocks, cams and related sub‑assemblies, and fit piping and controls while maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.

Candidates should be able to read blueprints, work with precision tooling, and operate hand tools, torque wrenches and lifting equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and work from drawings.
• Experience using precision tooling and measurement devices.
• Proficiency with hand, pneumatic and electric tools.
• Ability to work at different heights wearing a harness.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification eligibility.
• Capable of working under pressure and self-motivated.
• Ability to follow standard work documents.

Responsibilities

• Assemble engine components per drawings and specifications.
• Perform operations such as burr, file, surface, drill, tap, ream, and water test parts.
• Assemble sub-assemblies (crankshafts, blocks, cams, and bearings) and related components.
• Fit and assemble piping/tubing from pre-manufactured sources or department.
• Install controls, governors, and alignment assemblies; set timing and torque bolts.
• Maintain tolerances by fitting and aligning as required.
• Disassemble, rework, and prepare engines for shipping per customer specs.
• Handle parts up to 75 pounds; heavier items with hoist/overhead crane.
