Baylor College of Medicine's Texas Heart Institute unit in Houston is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to support GLP research, monitor health of laboratory animals, and provide anesthesia services.

The role includes on-call weekends/holidays, 8–12 hour shifts, and requires ALAT certification or obtaining it within one year. Associate degree is required; prior lab animal experience preferred. Onsite position with NDA obligations and BCM values guidance.

Qualificações

• Associate's degree in a related field is required; two years of related experience may substitute for degree.
• ALAT certification by AALAS is required within one year of hire or promotion.

Responsabilidades

• Assist large animal anesthetic procedures, treatments, and perioperative care, training entry-level staff.
• Assist in minor surgical procedures under veterinarian oversight, and blood collection.
• Provide high-level support to CCM veterinarians, communicate health concerns, and follow directives.
• Conduct daily animal health checks and monitoring.
• Maintain GLP records and veterinary drug inventories and documentation.
• Sterilize instruments and manage diagnostic equipment and supplies.
