The Veterinary Resource Technologist II provides skilled veterinary care and technical support for laboratory animals involved in surgical and non-surgical research studies. This role is responsible for peri-operative and post-operative patient care, anesthesia support, health monitoring, quality assurance activities, and training of research personnel. Working with a high degree of independence, the Veterinary Resource Technologist II helps ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations governing animal research.
The successful candidate will have experience in veterinary technology, animal care, anesthesia support, and surgical assistance, along with strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills. A commitment to animal welfare, research excellence, and regulatory compliance is essential.

Position Summary:
Provides for the health and well-being of laboratory animals through provision of skilled veterinary health care, technical support and quality assurance programs for surgical and non-surgical research projects. Capable of performing primary duties with minimal direct supervision. Ensures compliance with federal, state and institutional laws, policies and regulations.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
LVT (Licensed Veterinary Technician) preferred. Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification required.
Minimum Education:
Associates Degree from AVMA Accredited program or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of related laboratory animal medicine experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code
