Responsibilities

  • Documents spoken Chickasaw from speakers and learners in audio and video formats.
  • Coordinates transportation, setup, operation, and tear down of audio and video equipment.
  • Oversees production and postproduction of video and audio projects, using creativity and expertise to execute the project.
  • Proactively presents proposals for new video and audio projects, and works with division employees to develop project concepts for target audiences.
  • Edits and compiles audio and video recordings for archiving, use in other projects, and dissemination, as directed.
  • Maintains physical inventory of recording equipment and keeps it in good working order, tracks lent items and returns.
  • Responds to citizen and employee requests for audio/video recordings.
  • Compiles footage for archiving/documentary purposes.
  • Maintains metadata to required specifications for all recorded meetings.
  • Operates the division’s audio recording booth and delivers final products in a timely fashion.

Description

We are currently looking for aFull Time Language Media Editorto join our Language Preservation Database Team team located at the Language Building.

Summary:

Responsible for audio and video recording of Chickasaw speakers and learners; conceptualization, development and production of final quality audio and video projects to require specifications for internal and external use; appropriately archiving documentation and maintaining the divisions physical inventory or recording equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Documents spoken Chickasaw from speakers and learners in audio and video formats, including formal meetings, conversation, instruction, and other settings as assigned
  • Coordinates transportation, set up, operation, and tear down of audio and video equipment both in the office and off-site
  • Oversees production and postproduction of video and audio projects, using creativity and expertise to execute the project
  • Proactively presents proposals for new video and audio projects, and works with division employees to develop project concepts for target audiences
  • Edits and compiles audio and video recordings for archiving, use in other projects, and dissemination, as directed
  • Maintains physical inventory of audio and video recorders and associated cables, memory cards, batteries, etc. ensures all equipment is kept in good working order and is stored properlyregularly assesses equipment for issues and requests replacements for defective items as necessarykeeps track of lent items and ensures their timely return
  • Responds to citizen and employee requests for audio/video recordings
  • Compiles footage for archiving/documentary purposes
  • Maintains metadata to required specifications for all recorded meetings
  • Operates the division’s audio recording booth: schedules recording time, makes recordings for use in language products, edits and delivers of final products in a timely fashion, and maintains audio recording booth equipment (WhisperRoom, audio interface, microphones, software, etc.)
