Job summary

The City of Spokane invites applicants to apply to Project Employee - Language Access Technical Trainer. Under the Office of Web Services, this temporary professional position will plan and deliver trainings on technical tools that have been developed for language access.

This position will help to ensure that all programs and departments stay in compliance with federal and state civil rights laws, and that culturally and linguistically appropriate service standards and best practices are

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in planning and delivering technical trainings or programs to a diverse population.
• Bachelor’s degree in communication, computer science, information technology, interpreting & translation field, public relations, education, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develops technical tools for language access and provides support to staff in implementing those tools.
• Designs, develops, and delivers training programs for navigating language access resources.
• Provides technical expertise and input related to implementation of language access tools, trainings, and other resources.
• Maintains and engages in constant iteration for improvement of training programs as additional tools and resources are identified.
• Provides training and technical assistance to POS agencies to ensure best practices in providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS).
• Provides training on translation or interpretation services as needed for department programs.
• Performs related work as required.
