Job description

Job DetailsJob Location: Enfield Farms, Inc. - Lynden, WA 98264Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $23.00 - $30.00 HourlyPosition Summary:

We are looking for a Groundskeeper who takes personal ownership and pride in keeping our properties professionally groomed, clean, and beautiful. This position is responsible for maintaining lawns, landscape beds, plantings, driveways, parking areas, and entryways across all of our sites to a consistently high standard the kind of appearance that customers, employees, auditors, and inspectors notice in a positive way.

The ideal candidate has a mindful, curated, and proactive approach to property care and understands what a professionally maintained landscape should look like. This is someone who drives through the properties and notices the weed, broken sprinkler head, sunken gravel, overgrown planting, or plugged catch basin before anyone else does and takes the initiative to correct it.

Landscape irrigation is an important part of this role, including monitoring system performance, making seasonal adjustments, troubleshooting issues, and completing routine repairs. Field and crop irrigation are managed separately by the farm team.

We are looking for someone who approaches the properties as if they were their own, anticipates maintenance needs rather than waiting to be directed, and maintains a consistent standard across every location.

The ideal candidate will also take a proactive, pest-free approach to landscape maintenance, identifying conditions that may attract or harbor pests and addressing them before they become a problem.

Essential Functions:
  • Turf: Mow on a consistent schedule at the correct height for the season, adjusting to growth rather than the calendar. Edge along walks, curbs, drives, buildings, fence lines, and bed borders; trim what the mower can't reach; blow off hard surfaces after every mowing. Fertilize, lime, aerate, overseed, and repair damaged turf. Manage moss and broadleaf pressure.
  • Beds and plantings: Keep beds weeded on an ongoing basis, by hand and with herbicide. Prune, shape, and trim shrubs, ornamentals, hedges, and small trees at the right time of year. Refresh bark and maintain clean, defined edges. Plant and establish new material; remove dead or diseased material and flag plant health problems early.
  • Driveways, parking, and hardscape: Keep drives, lots, loading areas, walks, and entries clean and free of debris, gravel wash, mud tracking, and litter. Control weeds in gravel, cracks, curbs, and fence lines. Rake, level, and patch gravel; keep drains, catch basins, and ditches flowing. Maintain fences, gates, and signage in clean, straight, working condition.
  • Landscape irrigation: Monitor daily in season for dry spots, overspray, and standing water. Adjust controllers and zone times for weather and plant needs. Repair and replace heads, nozzles, valves, solenoids, drip line, and fittings; locate and fix leaks and line breaks. Handle spring startup, zone testing, and fall blowout. Keep common parts stocked so same-day repairs are possible.
  • Spraying and weed control: Apply herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and fertilizer safely and at correct rates. Maintain and calibrate sprayers and spreaders. Keep complete WSDA application records and follow all label, PPE, re-entry, and posting requirements. Coordinate any application near food-production areas with plant management. Catch weed, insect, and disease pressure before it spreads.
  • Seasonal and winter: Snow and ice removal from drives, lots, docks, walks, and entries, including early morning, evening, and weekend callouts. Apply ice melt and sand; stock supplies ahead of forecast weather. Leaf and storm cleanup, gutter clearing, spring and fall cleanups, dormant pruning.
  • Equipment: Operate and maintain mowers including robot mowers, trimmers, blowers, sprayers, tractors, small loaders, UTVs, and trailers. Perform daily checks and routine service. Keep shop and chemical storage clean, organized, and compliant. Report repair needs and supply shortages before they become problems.
Qualifications
