Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach is hiring a Maintenance Aide in the Public Works & Utilities Department. The role supports Landscape Maintenance and Urban Forestry, with duties in parks, trails, and street medians. You will perform basic maintenance tasks, assist staff, and help keep the city clean, safe, and beautiful.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, at least one year of maintenance experience, and a valid California driver's license. A Class B is desirable. First review on Aug 20, 2026.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of one year general maintenance, construction or repair work experience.
• License/Certificate Requirements: A valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. A valid California Class B Driver's license is desirable.
• Must be at least 17 years of age to be hired as a Laborer III and at least 18 years of age for Laborer IV.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all phases of landscape maintenance including raking, weeding, trimming, plant replacement, and landscape improvements.
• Working outside along street medians, buffers, as well as in parks and trails.
• Assist maintenance staff with a variety of basic tasks- duties will vary according to job assignment.
• Clean and sanitize park and trail amenities and remove debris and litter from facilities, landscape features, trails, and parks.
• Recognize, avoid, and report unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Provide information, instructions, and assistance to the public within the scope of authority and training.
• Support the relationship between the City of Laguna Beach and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
