Job summary

City of Huntington Beach is seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker Assistant to support the Public Works Department across Streets, Facilities and Beach maintenance, Parks, Trees and Landscape, and Water Utilities. This position reports to a full-time staff member and may require flexible hours.

Minimum qualifications include some high school and related training or experience; possession of a valid California driver’s license is required; the role has a 1,000-hour cap per 12 months and offers

Qualifications

• Ability to read and listen to and follow instructions.
• Learn construction zone traffic control and site safety procedures.
• Use hand tools; perform physical labor.
• Communicate effectively and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools as needed.
• Assist full-time staff in clearing obstacles, debris, and litter.
• Load and unload trucks; transport materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Carry out duties across Streets, Facilities, Beach, Parks and Water utilities areas.
