Job summary

Ryan Lawn & Tree is seeking a motivated Landscape and Maintenance Trainee to join our team in a full-time position. You’ll gain hands-on experience through mentorship and real-world projects balancing creative design with practical fieldwork.

This entry-level role offers growth opportunities within an employee-owned company, with compensation ranging from $43,000 to $48,000 plus bonus opportunities. You will work year-round in the Midwest region, with strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Able to pass DOT physical, background check, and drug screening.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, and push/pull equipment for extended periods, including up to 3 miles per day in the field.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round.
• 6 months of landscape experience is preferred.
• SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of vehicles and equipment. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen (including marijuana), criminal background check, MVR check, and DOT physical before starting employment.

Responsibilities

• Help with landscape projects ranging in scale from planting trees, shrubs, and perennials to hardscaping and drainage on client properties.
• Work well in a team and independently, taking care of client properties and pride in end results.
• Interact with clients daily, communicating the process and expectations of services needed and services performed along with recommendations for other RYAN services needed on their property.
• Possess a general knowledge of Design/Build practices as well as other RYAN services.
