Job summary

City of Bradenton is seeking a Public Works worker to perform a range of manual labor and maintenance tasks in our city infrastructure. The role involves operating maintenance equipment, basic paperwork, and following prescribed procedures under supervision.

Work includes traffic control, street and landscape maintenance, and other duties as assigned. This position requires readiness for overtime, evenings, weekends, and emergency response during storms, with a regular weekday daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Good driving record and valid Florida driver’s license.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Understand equipment and methods used to perform and complete the assigned work.
• Perform heavy manual labor for long periods of time.
• Occasionally perform basic paperwork.
• Adhere to prescribed routines and practices.
• Operate maintenance equipment and perform preventive maintenance and light repairs.
• Conduct traffic control and install street barricades and cones; direct traffic around work sites.
• Utilize proper safety precautions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
