Job summary

Farmscape is seeking a Landscape Gardener to maintain residential and commercial gardens and landscapes in Oakland, CA. This full-time, outdoors role involves hands-on garden work, weeding, pruning, planting, watering, and general landscape care with a Monday–Friday schedule.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of landscaping or gardening experience, enjoys physical outdoor work, and can follow directions. Valid driver’s license required. Benefits include health insurance and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance for landscapes, gardens, and outdoor spaces at homes and businesses.
• Weed, prune, plant, mulch, water, harvest, and clean up garden areas.
• Care for vegetable gardens, fruit trees, native plants, perennials, and other landscape plants.
• Complete assigned garden work efficiently during scheduled visits.
• Check plants and irrigation for common problems and report to team lead.
• Keep tools, vehicles, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow garden notes and instructions for each property.
• Work with the crew to complete daily jobs and provide great service to clients.
• Drive between job sites and assist with other landscaping tasks as needed.

Oakland, CA | $25-$27/hour | Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.

Farmscape is hiring a Landscape Gardener to work outdoors maintaining residential and commercial gardens and landscapes. This is a physical, fast-past field position. You'll spend your day moving between client properties and completing hands-on garden work such as weeding, pruning, planting, watering, harvesting and general landscape care.We're looking for someone who is comfortable with manual labor, works at a steady pace, follows direction, and enjoys being active and outdoors all day.

What You’ll Do

• Perform hands-on maintenance for landscapes, gardens, and outdoor spaces at homes and businesses

What We’re Looking For

• Can maintain a steady and efficient work pace throughout the day
• Are comfortable with repetitive physical tasks like weeding, digging, pruning, lifting, and carrying
• Take direction well and can apply feedback to your work
• Pay attention to quality while still getting work done efficiently
• Are dependable, punctual, and ready to work
• Are comfortable working independently once you've been shown what to do
• Are interested in learning gardening and horticulture skills through hands-on experience
• Are friendly and professional around clients and coworkers
• Able to work well with a crew and communicate clearly.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Physical Demands:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable doing physical work throughout the day.
• Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.

About Farmscape

Farmscape designs, installs, and maintains sustainable landscapes throughout California. Our gardeners care for everything from vegetable gardens and fruit trees to native, perennial, and ornamental landscapes.

This is an active outdoor job. Gardeners spend most of the workday on their feet and regularly walk, bend, kneel, dig, lift, carry, and use hand tools while working in varying outdoor conditions.
