Job summary

University of North Dakota is seeking part‑time, non‑benefited Landscape Assistants for on‑campus roles. Work is primarily on campus with limited to no remote option, 10–20 hours per week, and $15.00 hourly pay.

Temporary levels I and II determine duties, from basic landscape maintenance to operating equipment for snow and landscape tasks. Candidates must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and pass a criminal history background check.

• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hrs/week.

Purpose of Position

Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position.

Duties & Responsibilities

There are two levels of Landscaping student positions available. The interview assessment will determine the establishment of either a Temp I or a Temp II Landscape worker.

Student TEMP I Landscape Assistant Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist redoing landscapes around campus
• Assist with painting athletic fields
• Tree and stump removal
• Assist in cleaning sidewalks and streets
• Filling potholes
• Shoveling Snow
• Hand Sanding
• Other duties as assigned

Student TEMP II Landscape Assistant Duties & Responsibilities

• Working with staff to redo landscapes around campus
• Experience in operating equipment to clean sidewalks and streets such as Bobcat skid steers, ToolCats and small articulating front-end loaders
• Filling potholes- experience in operation of small asphalt roller or asphalt crack sealing equipment a plus
• On call for snow removal/storm clean up and willing to assist in supervision of crew response
• Experience running equipment for large scale snow removal and landscape equipment
• Assist with painting athletic fields
• Picking up garbage and branches
• Shoveling Snow
• Hand Sanding
• Run Snow Removal Equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Required Competencies

• Willing to work in an outdoor environment in inclement weather
• Must be able to work a minimum of 10hrs/week

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds frequently and without restrictions
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• Experience in operation of tractors, large front-end loaders, or forklifts
